The
Costa Brava region of Spain is located in the
north east corner of Spain it is very popular
amongst tourists who come for the beautiful
beaches and sunny weather that favours the region
for many months of the year. International tourist
resorts have sprung up over the years between
small and unspoilt fishing villages. The Costa
Brava is part of the region called Catalonia.
From here the entire region may be explored
with its Gaudi architecture, Pablo Picasso museum,
Olympic village and world-famous La Rambla Boulevard
The area is filled with people walking around
instead of driving cars .Here you are free to
roam around and can stop for coffee, read a
book, enjoy the street entertainers or simply
to mix with the locals and work on your Spanish.
Europe's biggest water park is located just
outside Lloret de Mar and the Marine land complex
near Blanes. It’s a wonderful family visit
popular with all tourists and locals alike.
Although most visitors come to the Costa Brava
for a relaxing holiday of sun and sea rather
than serious sightseeing, there are nevertheless
certain points of cultural interest in the area.
These include Girona (Gerona), one of Catalonia's
oldest cities. The city has a strong Jewish
culture which has been well preserved through
the years. Figueres is the home of the Salvador
Dali Museum. Cadaquès, a simple fishing
village on the coast about 30 minutes bus drive
from Figueres. This is where Dali lived for
many years; and beyond Cadaquès, Empúries
(Ampurias) with its impressive Graeco-Roman
remains.
