The
costal region of the Málaga province
stretches over 150 kilometres and is called
the Costa del Sol. It is a very popular tourist
destination because of its mild climate. The
region has a lot to offer in terms of sightseeing.
The Botanical-historical garden "LA CONCEPCIÓN”
belongs to the Botanical Patronage Municipal
"City of Málaga" was created
in 1850s by the Marquees de Casa Loring. It
is a beautiful collection of tropical and subtropical
flora outdoors. The lodged vegetal species in
the property come from America, Asia, Africa
and the Australian Continent and the floral
arrangements are truly artistic. In the typical
Arabic fortresses construction style, the Malaguenian
fortress of Bobastro was built on the hillside
of the Gibralfaro Mountain (Yabal-Faruk meaning,
mountain of the lighthouse) from where it is
possible to watch the African coast. The remains
of the Roman Theatre are at the foothill of
the Alcazaba, it is supposed to be a construction
of the Augustus epoch remodelled during the
Flavios mandate. Part of its stones where used
by the Arabs for the construction of the Alcazaba.

The birth place of Picasso and the Picasso foundation
in Málaga are two other places which
must be on any tourists list. Among the many
services and activities now organised by the
Foundation are exhibitions, lectures on Picasso,
exhibitions of reproductions of his works, grants
to art students, a museum, a specialised library,
a projection room, a reading room, an exhibition
hall, and a laboratory. The Foundation exhibits
books, leaflets, press cuttings, international
art magazines, colour slides, recordings, videos,
posters and photographs all relating to the
artist. The cave of Nerja, declared a Historic-Artistic
Monument, has a total length of 4,273 m of which
only a third can be visited by the public. But
the marble formations inside the cave will leave
you awestruck at the power of Mother Nature.
Stalactites and stalagmites create a landscape
that seems to be straight out of a fairy tale.
The central attraction is the 32 m-tall Hall
of the Cataclysm. It has been calculated that
this space was fashioned by the fall of 1,000
billion drops of water. In Marbella, The Cave
of The Basin which is a genuine treasure trove
of cave paintings dating back to the Palaeolithic
and Neolithic Ages offers a fantastic journey
in time. Malaga has some old and beautiful churches
like; Church of Christ of The Salud, Church
Of Sagrario, Church Of San Felipe Neri, Church
Of San Juan, Church Of Santiago and Church Of
The Martyrs, be sure to visit some of them for
a truly religious experience.
